We here at the London Tutor Company are now part of a DfE-Approved tuition provider for the National Tutoring Programme. Parents cannot enrol children in this as only schools are allowed to participate through their subject teachers. NTP tutoring is being offered by MME for maths, English and science with a primary target of GCSE aged students. This may be expanded in the coming weeks though. We understand there are many parents out there who are interested in this for their children, with it being fully funded through the school. Please get in touch with the school about this and ask about MME for the provider.
Many questions will come up about this and below are a few common ones that we get.
What is the National Tutoring Programme?
It is a government initiative that aims to assist schools around the country in funding tuition to help further learning. The target of this at first was to help children get back up and running after the pandemic but has been extended further following the evidence of how effective the tuition has been.
How does the NTP funding work?
Each school will be allocated £162 per pupil eligible for Pupil Premium which can be spent on any student as part of the NTP. The funding is released in April, September and December, so 3 times throughout the year. Schools have the opportunity to claim 60% of the tuition cost with a maximum of £18 per hour per student.
Is the NTP tuition online or in person and is it in groups?
One of the great things about this is the possibility of doing it through 1-2-1 in person tuition or online group sessions. We feel it is important to have these options. Please do keep in mind though that the 1-2-1 learning will be more costly than the group sessions.
How does the DfE national tutoring programme make a difference?
Through the tuition provided in this programme, it has left a big impact on student outcomes, especially with the GCSE students participating in the scheme.
How does our school enrol for the NTP?
Get in touch with an accredited provider to move forward with this. We recommend MME.
Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be more than happy to help.
