Here at the London Tutor Company we continue to provide the best support for learners of all ages in their aim to get qualifications. A question we have received a lot recently is how to get a maths GCSE fast. It’s definitely not easy and straightforward due to the limited dates available for the normal GCSE examinations, but there are many alternatives that students should be considering if they are interested in doing so.

The standard GCSE maths exams are usually taken twice a year at set dates. The first being around May/June and the next being sometime in November. This requires learners to answer 3 different exam papers in registered exam centres. So this means that everyone will need to have it in their schedule as they will be done on 3 dates at specific times. The reason that the GCSE exams don’t have much wiggle room in terms of time is because everyone in the country sits the exam at the same time. For this reason alone many adult learners tend to look at alternatives as it doesn’t suit their schedules well. The main GCSE alternative that is used is functional skills maths level 2. This is a great option as this can be taken anytime during the year, making sure that the learner is as prepared as they can be for their exam. Keeping in mind that it is Ofqual regulated so it will be accepted by most major Universities and employers as an equivalent to GCSE grade C. The results time frame is something that everyone needs to know as well, with the GCSE paper based exams taking around 6 weeks whereas the online exams can be back within a matter of days making it the fastest way to get GCSE maths qualifications. The GCSE equivalency tests can be used as well but they aren’t as widely accepted as functional skills.

Learners should weigh up how fast they need the certifications and what their personal situation is. It can vary from person to person. If you are struggling to decide and are in need of advice, please get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can help.
